Mazar-i-Sharif
Destination
Mazar-I-Sharif is the fourth largest city of Afghanistan and home to multi-ethnic groups.
We can arrive the city via Air/300 Km or Land/ about 400 Km. The land way is very beautiful and the landscape is stunning. We organize the travel as a picnic. We will visit the Blue Mosque in the heart of Mazar-I-Sharif. This is a mosque which Sunni Muslims believe contains the tomb of Ali ibn Ab Ṭalib, cousin and son-in law of Prophet Muhammad (S). Blue Mosque is even more spectacular at night.
Mazar-I-Sharif bazaar is not only the rug production of Afghanistan, but considered the rug hub of Central Asia. We lunch at the bazaar and explore around old town.
Drive 25km out to Balkh – this town is believed to be the center of the Bactrian Empire, even before the arrival of Alexander the Great. It was destroyed many times by Chengis Khan and Timur-i-lang.
