Kabul is the capital and largest city of Afghanistan and serving as Afghanistan’s political, cultural, and economical center. The city located high up in a narrow valley in the Hindu Kush and is bounded by the Kabul River. In the second half of the 20th century, it became a stop on the hippie trail undertaken by many Europeans and the city also gained the nickname “Paris of Central Asia” during this time. Kabul is known for its historical gardens, bazaars, and palaces. The well-known examples are the Gardens of Babur and Darul Aman Palace, as well as the Arg.

Gargha Lake
Depending of arrival time the next day, we will visit Gargha Lake, a very beautiful sightseeing of Kabul to the foot of Hindu Kush mountain range to hills of Paghman, about 20 minutes for away from Kabul. The place is the major tourist attraction and most popular picnic spot for Kabul residents. Paghman is popular for its gardens and scenic views.
Taq-e Zafar/ Arch of Victory
We will drive from Gharga Lake to the beautiful Paghaman valley and will have a small stop to the monument of “Taq-e Zafar/ Arch of Victory”, which was constructed after King Amanullah Khan and Queen Soraya return from Europe in 1928. Paghaman valley is a place between beautiful mountains like Atlas Mountains in Marocco to enjoy the clean open air atmosphere.
After King Amanullah Khan returned from Europa travel, he brought foreign experts to redesign Kabul. At this time, they created a monumental European-style gate at the entrance of Paghman, similar, but smaller than the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, France, called Arch of Victory. Paghman transformed into a holiday resort with villas and chalets as well as the summer capital. In the wide avenues there were fir, poplar and nut trees that flew past the arch, villas and a golf course. It was a popular place for the rich and the aristocrats.
Bagh-e- Babur / Garden of Babur
Garden of Babur is a historic site in Kabul and visited by locals and foreign tourists. The tomb of the first Mughal emperor Babur located in this Garden. It was the tradition of Mughal princes to develop sites for recreation and pleasure during their lifetime and later choose one of these as their last resting place. Jahangir made a pilgrimage to the site in 1607, when he ordered that all gardens in Kabul be surrounded by walls, that a prayer platform be laid in front of Babur’s grave and an inscribed headstone placed at its head.
Bala-Hissar | High Fort
Kabul has too much historical and cultural sightseeing. Bala-Hissar was the stage for several pivotal events in both the First (1838–1842) and Second Anglo-Afghan Wars (1878–1880) and is an ancient fortress, around the 5th century AD, and is located in the south of the old city of Kabul
Darul Aman Palace
Darul Aman Palace located close to the National Museum of Afghanistan. Construction of Palace began in the early 1920s as a part of the endeavors of King Amanullah Khan to modernize Afghanistan. Amanullah Khan invited 22 architects from Germany and France to build the palace.
National Museum of Afghanistan
The National Museum of Afghanistan/ Kabul . The museum has items dating back several millennia, including items from Persian, Buddhist and Islamic dynasties.
Shahe Do Shamshera
Shah-Do Shamshira Mosque, means King of Two Swords, is a yellow mosque in the center of the city. It was modelled after the Ortaköy Mosque in Istanbul. The design of this mosque is quite unusual for Islamic religious architecture. Its Italian decorative stucco creates an interesting effect that some describe as Afghan Baroque.
The mosque is located next to the tomb of a Mughal general, Chin Timur Khan, who was also the cousin of the central Asian conqueror Babur. Not far from here are the tombs of Babur and many other prominent Muslim commanders who invaded India from Afghanistan and established Muslim rule over northern India including modern Pakistan and Banglades
Istalif Village
We will take a side trip to istalif village, which is 29 kilometres northwest of Kabul in the Shomali Plains. It is the center of Istalif District, Kabul Province. Istalif is famous for its handmade glazed potteries.
